During your time on academic
probation at UTSA, you were required to achieve a minimum of a 2.0 grade point
average (GPA). Unfortunately, you did not meet the required minimum GPA this
semester and therefore have been placed on academic dismissal. If you have already
registered for classes for next semester, or if the registration system allows
you to register for classes, your registration will be canceled.
If this is your first
academic dismissal, you will not be able to attend UTSA for at least one
semester and you must re-apply for admission back into the university. If this
is not your first academic dismissal, you will not be able to attend UTSA for
at least one calendar year (12 months) and you must re-apply for admission. Students
who have been dismissed three times are not eligible to apply for readmission
into UTSA.
Readmission into UTSA is not
guaranteed. To be considered for readmission, you will be required to submit a
Readmission Application on applytexas.org, pay the $70 application fee,
and submit a reinstatement petition packet to the One Stop Enrollment Center. The
packet, including instructions and a list of required documentation, may be
found on the Admissions website: https://future.utsa.edu/admissions/returning-student/.
The application,
reinstatement fee, petition form and reinstatement packet (including
all required supporting documentation) must be on file by the stated deadlines
below:
Fall Semester - May 15 Spring
Semester - October 15 Summer
Semester - March 15
During your academic
dismissal period, you may choose to attend another college or university;
however, grades earned at other institutions will not change your UTSA GPA. As
part of your readmission packet, you must submit transcripts for any coursework
you complete at another institution. You
must receive at least a 2.0 GPA to transfer any courses taken at other institutions. We encourage you to meet with your academic
advisor to help you determine which courses will transfer to UTSA, and which
courses should only be taken at UTSA.
If you are re-admitted, you
will be placed on academic probation and will be required to meet with your
assigned academic advisor before registering for classes.
Sincerely,
Timothy Yuen
Associate Dean for Academic Programs
